With the IPL 2020 approaching its business end this Sunday, the franchise will be eager to use Mid-season transfer window to recalibrate their plans and rejig team combinations. The transfer window, which is scheduled to start from October 13, will allow franchises to transfer or loan players from other franchises.
Chennai Super Kings will be one of the franchises, who would like to make best use of the window. CSK hasn’t had a great start of the tournament. With just two wins in 6 matches, CSK is lurking in lower part of points table.
Already missing out on Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina, it has quite a challenge for Chennai Super Kings to fill in for two pillars. While bowling has looked good in patches, batting has been the main concern of Chennai Super Kings so far.
With CSK looking forward to turning things around, Harsha Bhogle, cricket commentator and analyst, posted a tweet suggesting CSK to target quality top-order batsman like Ajinkya Rahane in mid-season transfer window.
“How’s this for a mid-season transfer thought: #CSK desperately need a quality top order batsman. Ajinkya Rahane desperately needs a game. Ajinkya Rahane is not getting a game. #MidnightThoughts”, tweeted Harsha Bhogle.
Ajinkya Rahane, the star opening batsman, was traded to Delhi Capitals by Rajasthan Royals ahead of this season. With DC’s preferred opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan doing exceedingly well, Rahane has played just one game in the season so far. He was part of Delhi Capitals’ XI against MI on Sunday and batted at No. 3 in the match. It is, however, pretty unlikely that the Capitals will let go of Rahane as he can come handy on the tired pitches of UAE in the second half of the tournament.
