Delhi Capitals is trying to rope Ravichandran Ashwin in the team


Earlier, Kings XI Punjab official said that we would release Ravichandran Ashwin before the Indian premier league 2020. After that, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals stated to rope in the team for the upcoming season of IPL. Now Delhi Capitals is near to signing Ravichandran Ashwin for IPL 2020.

“The deal with Ashwin should be through. The Capitals are very close to signing him. There are a few formalities that need to be taken care of,” TOI quoted a source close to the franchise’s management.

 “We would be more than happy to have Ashwin if KXIP is ready to release him,” said Sourav Ganguly, The mentor of Delhi Capitals team.

Earlier, DC team traded Mayank Markande in place of Sherfane Rutherford from Mumbai Indian. They can try to strengthen their spin bowling department. DC already has Amith Mishra and Axar Patel in their squad.

Kings XI Punjab bought Ravichandran Ashwin during the IPL 2018 auction for a whopping Rs 7.6 crores after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided not to retain the off-spinner. In the last two seasons, Ravichandran Ashwin played for Kings XI Punjab and also led the team, but he failed to qualify the team into the play-offs after a good start. He played 28 IPL matches for Kings XI Punjab in the last two seasons and took 25 wickets and scored 141 runs. Overall Ashwin has played 139 matches in the IPL with 125 scalps under his belt at an average of 26.48 and an economy of 6.79.

In the last two seasons, Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals. DC reached in the play-offs of the Indian premier league 2019 but lost against Chennai Super Kings. After a long wait, Delhi team entered into the play-offs of IPL.
