Alex Hales is one of the important batsmen of England. The 30-year-old has so far featured in 70 ODIs for the national team and has six hundreds to his name. He has been a key player in England’s ODI cricket since 2015. In 2018 when England rewrote the record for the highest score in an ODI with their 481/6 against Australia, Alex Hales played an important contribution in that match. He scored 147 runs in that match.

His county Nottinghamshire in a statement said that Hales has made himself unavailable and with an undefined return date. “Alex Hales has made himself unavailable for selection for personal reasons and no timetable has been set for his return to action,” it said. English County Cricket will be played in Hampshire in the months of May, June and mid-July.

Alex Hales has a white-ball only contract with Nottinghamshire cricket club. Acknowledged as one of the premier white ball batsmen in world cricket, Alex Hales enjoyed a record-breaking 2017 domestic season. The former MCC Young Cricketer had a meteoric rise through the ranks, after making his Nottinghamshire debut almost a decade ago. Hales is a aggressive top-order stroke player.

County cricket is a domestic tournament of England. But many prominent Indians players like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma have played county cricket recently. Now, as we reported that Ajinkya Rahane has also asked BCCI permission to play in county cricket.

Host England will inaugurate World Cup 2019 by playing against South Africa on May 30. Before the world cup, they still have a couple of assignments – a one-off ODI against Ireland, followed by a one-match T20I and five-match ODI series against visiting Pakistan. Hales was also a part of the English squad for both the series, but it is not clear that whether he will take part in world cup or not
