Five Stadiums and Cities that might see a new team in IPL 2022

After a grand #Dream11 IPL 2020 that concluded on 10th November with the finale between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) is planning to make the next edition grander and more special.

“Two new teams will be introduced in the 2022 IPL,” quoted by Board officials.

Here are the Top five cities that can get a new IPL team

1. Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad:

The newly reconstructed Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad is one of the top contenders for getting an IPL this season. Gujrat is one of the most consistent performers in Ranji Cricket. They have a formidable unit and a state of art stadium in Sardar Patel Stadium will serve as perfect home for them.

2. Ekana Stadium, Lucknow: 

The newly built stadium hosted its first ever T20I game against West Indies in November 2018 and the city of Nawabs welcomed it with open arms. UP has been home to many of prestigious Indian National Cricketers like Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Bhuvneshwar Kumar yet doesn’t have a team in IPL. If any of state’s corporate group shows interest in buying a team, Ekana might well serve a perfect home.

3. Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium, Pune:

The MCA stadium, Maharashtra has been home to two IPL teamsPune Warriors India and Rising Pune Supergiant in past. Most recently, RPS marked its presence in the IPL for two consecutive years, when RR and CSK got suspended. RPS had a successful outing as they made it to IPL 2017 finale, before CSK and RR returned to action in 2018.

4. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi:

The stadium was home of Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who played in 2011 season of IPL. However, Parthiv Patel led team finished in 8th position that year and they were disbanded next year.

5. Ranchi

A well-known state which gave the greatest cricketer of all time MS Dhoni. As per the given reports, some business tycoons are aiming to buy IPL franchise.

With the report coming that a Malayalam actor is interested in buying a team, Kerala might see their second IPL team. Kerala has a strong Ranji unit and with a potential player in Sanju Samson, owners might play a punt on youngster.
