With the coming 14th edition of Indian Premier League, franchises are looking into major players for the team. Talking about this, Royal Challengers Bangalore might look into some players who can give their best to the team after setting a roller coaster concluding season. On this, Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir feels that RCB can go for Glenn Maxwell as he is a big match winner, and with his presence RCB can get a X-factor for the franchise.
He is a hard hitter and a core player in every manner as he can contribute with both bat and ball. His most astonishing season was 2014 where with Kings XI Punjab he set a high standard game in UAE whereas from last two years he couldn’t produce the way he used to contribute.
In the concluded edition he could only manage to score 108 runs in 13 matches with awful strike rate of 101.88.
Gambhir reckons that with his addition in RCB camp, RCB can get more options and will reduce immense pressure from the duo of Villiers-Kohli and can promote more running effect.
“There will be a couple of teams who will be eager to go into the auctions and buy the players they want. There is Kings XI Punjab, there is RCB, who will be looking to get some players to get their balance right. These sides will be very, very active in the auctions” quoted by Gambhir on Star Sports.
“These are teams who will be looking at someone like Maxwell. Surely, RCB will be looking at him. That is my personal opinion. Anything can happen at the auctions. But I feel Maxwell will go to RCB”.
Addition of Maxwell will provide depth in the batting order and can produce terrific zone of batting in the Chinnaswamy Stadium as the boundaries are too small and his big hitting will be the element zone there.
“Because if I look at their entire batting line up they got Kohli will be defending be looking to open the batting because that is where he has been most successful. Padikkal has done very well for them in the previous season. Then they have got AB and then they can have someone like Maxwell the X-Factor”.
“And at Chinnaswamy, where he has done very well. Whenever he has played at Chinnaswamy, he has won games for Australia. So I think Glenn Maxwell will go to RCB. Depending on how much RCB will give for him, but I feel he would go for a lot of money” added by Gautam Gambhir.
