Winning captain Carlos Brathwaite said in the post-match presentation, “Means a lot. A lot of people came here tonight. We call it the fortress and we wanted to give them a show. Wasn’t a great show when we were bowling, but very happy about the way we chased this down. There was a lot of belief. Before we went off the field, we had a huddle where we said in the Bullring anything can be chased. Thomas and Allen were fantastic, and we had conceded 20 runs too much, but we wanted to keep the belief, express ourselves, execute our skills, and fortunately, we came out on top. Hopefully, the oppositions scoreless runs in the future games at our home ground. Every ball is important, and we can chase down anything, but we need to come back tomorrow and replicate this performance.”
Player of the award winner, Evin Lewis said, “It means a lot to me, chasing 240-odd. I had to execute my skills well today. I had a good start when I went out there. Thought I’d keep it simply trying to chase a big score, just believed in my ability and it paid off. The guys are high on confidence now after coming from a couple of losses in the first couple of games.”
