Chennai Super Kings all-rounder and one of the iconic players of IPL, Shane Watson is still hopeful of IPL 2020 this year. In a video interaction session, Watson said, “Hopefully the things will sort of work out in the next few days and I will be able to play atleast one more year with CSK.”
The IPL 2020 which was all set to get rolling from 29th March has been postponed for indefinite time now amidst the fears of COVID-19. Indian Government have also extended the countrywide lockdown till 3rd May. With the lockdown all the international activities, flights and sports have also been cancelled indefinitely.
The all-rounder is one of the iconic players of Indian Premier League since the inaugural edition. In 134 matches, Watson has scored 3575 runs hitting as many as 4 centuries in IPL so far. Watson, who was grabbed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2018, played a crucial role in CSK’s third title-win as the all-rounder scored a brilliant hundred in the final against Hyderabad.
Remembering his memories with the CSK, Watson said “To be able to share love of CSK, all around India not just in Chennai. And that’s the thing that blows me away. It is not just in Chennai but wherever we go, the support that we get is very strong. So I hope this virus moves on and I have the pleasure to re-join CSK for some more time,” wished the Australian all-rounder.”
Arguably the finest limited-overs all-rounder of the modern era, Shane Watson is the ever shining star in white-ball cricket. Watson was one of the few Australian players who could handle pace and spin with equal ease. Whether it’s batting at the top or finishing lower down the order, he played every role that was given to him with as perfection as one could.
