Hotstar withdraws as associate sponsor ahead of IPL 2020


Star India bought the Indian premier league broadcasting right in 2017 in a whopping 16347.5 crores. Along with they also bought the digital sponsorships of IPL. HotStar telecast the IPL on the digital level. Now, Hotstar decided to withdraw the digital sponsorship as an associate sponsor. IPL Associate sponsorships are reported to be in the range of 40-80 crore rupees.

“There was an exit clause in the deal, and Hotstar chose to exercise it,” a BCCI source told India Today.

KKR appointed Brendon Mccullum as head coach

Brendon Mccullum recently announced retirement from all forms of cricket after playing Global T20 Canada. Now he becomes the head coach of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and Carribean Premier League franchise Trinbago knight Riders. Earlier KKR removed Jackus Kallis as their head coach.

After Joining the KKR team as a coach, Brendon Mccullum said, “It’s a great honour to take on this responsibility. The Knight Rider franchises in IPL and CPL have become iconic and have set the standard in franchise cricket. We have fantastic squads in both KKR and TKR and I, along with the support staff, will be looking to build on the success both franchises have enjoyed.”

Kolkata Knight Riders’ chief Venky Mysore said, “Brendon has been an integral part of the Knight Riders family for a long time. His leadership qualities, honesty, positive and aggressive style, combined with his natural ability to bring the best out of the teams he has been a part of makes him ideally suited to lead both KKR and TKR as a head coach.”

Caribbean premier league will start from September 04. The first match will be played between Trinbago knight Riders versus St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
