The #Dream11 IPL 2020 has been a thrill to watch so far. Almost half of action is done and dusted. In 27 days of the action, we have had two super overs, few exciting chases, a lot of hitting, a couple of Tewatia specials, KKR pulling off heist, Delhi Capitals showing promise, KXIP failing to close out games (except the last one), a much-awaited Gayle Storm and Mumbai Indians uncharacteristically topping the table mid-way in tournament.
Two of the most balance squads – Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are sitting at top two position of table with 6 and 5 wins respectively in 8 and 7 matches. Surprisingly, this year RCB is another team that has won 5 out of their 7 matches to finish in top three at half-way stage.
With the tournament looking set for exciting finish, former greats and analysts of the game has started their prediction for the tournament. The former West Indies cricketer and commentator Ian Bishop has come up with his fantasy XI of the tournament.
The legendary fast bowler from Caribbean made his XI around the top performers in the tournament so far. As many as 7 players are picked form top three teams in points table and no surprises some of the big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni missed out in his fantasy squad.
For the opening slots, Ian Bishop has picked inform duo of KXIP captain KL Rahul and CSK’s best player in the season Faf du Plessis. While KL holds the orange cap, de Plessis has played important role in 2 of the 3 wins CSK has managed so far. Surprisingly, Mayank Agarwal, who is the second highest run getter after Rahul has missed out.
Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Suryakumar Yadav comes in at 3 alongside Delhi Capitals’ skipper Shreyas Iyer. The right-handed have shown composure and ability to score runs in middle overs. Both Iyer and Yadav can play spin as well as pace with ease. While Iyer is 5th in the batting chart with 298 runs and Yadav has scored 233 runs so far.
Tournament’s best finisher and No. 5 batsman Kieron Pollard comes in No. 5 in Bishop’s XI too. He will also lead the team. Pollard has carried forward his form from CPL and played a couple of crucial innings, along with significant contributions with the ball and his acrobatic fielding, for MI this season. His teammate, Hardik Pandya comes in at 6. Although Hardik Pandya is yet to fire in tournament, surely, he isn’t an entity to leave out.
While Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal become obvious choices for spin department, the trio of Delhi Capitals Kagiso Rabada, Mumbai Indians Jasprit Bumrah and Kings XI Punjab Mohammed Shami can toll the death knell for batsmen. While the spin duo has taken 20 wickets between them, the pace trio have picked out 41 batsmen so far.
Here is Ian Bishop’s fantasy XI for IPL 2020:
KL Rahul (wk), Faf du Plessis, Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Kieron Pollard (c), Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Kagiso Rabada, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah.
