Bangladesh is facing injury issues of their players ahead of World Cup 2019. Their main players like wicket keeper batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim, fast bowlers Mahmudullah, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin are already injured.
Now, Mustafizur Rahman the young pace bowler of Bangladesh has also got injured. He hurt his left ankle at training session recently. He has been advised to take rest for two weeks. However, he is expected to be named in the squad for the World Cup. He could miss the initial stages of a pre-tournament training camp.
Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said “There is no fracture-related injury [but] there is some pain in the ligament, a lateral ankle sprain. He had suffered this kind of sprain before but predictions regarding these injuries are difficult. He will rest partially with little exercise in between and his condition will be reassessed two weeks from now.”
One of the main concerns for Bangladesh is injury of wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim. Not only had they lost their main wicketkeeper, their batting line will also get disturbed due to his absence. He has got a major injury, he suffered a broken rib-cage in the Asia Cup. After that, he got a finger injury during the recent tour of New Zealand. While his finger is healed, he is still feeling the effects of rib-cage injury sustained during the Asia Cup. Although, he has started practicing batting at the nets again after rehabilitation, it needs to be seen whether he will be included in world cup squad of Bangladesh.
But there main concern is that their fast bowling department has become too weak after injury of their main fast bowlers.
Rubel Hossain suffered a side strain during a domestic game and is resting, while Taskin Ahmed, his fellow fast bowler is striving to be fully fit after receiving ankle injury. Bangladesh rising star and fast bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has elbow injury issues. However, he is playing domestic tournaments.
