IPL started in 2008 where Rajasthan Royals won this. After this, every season of the Indian premier league is going more interesting than the previous one. Now IPL 2020 likely to be a bit longer as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling the option of more night games.
According to reports of Indian express, IPL governing council is planning to more night match then day and increase the day of IPL. In the previous some year, Indian premier league was over in 45 days, but now the council is planning that the Indian premier league is over in 60 days. The IPL is likely to start on April 1 and could end by May 30, according to reports of Indian express.
“There is a plan in place of playing more games at night. If it is passed, each team will have to play only one game in the afternoon. Teams who play in the north face heatwaves and conditions get more difficult. There is a plan of using all 60 days instead of wrapping up the IPL in 45 days. The IPL GC has to approve it,” a source told the newspaper.
Also, Mumbai Indians wants more night matches then day matches because day games attract lesser crowds. The argument is that people can only come to stadiums after finishing office hours.
The BCCI is also planning to start the night matches at 7 PM. Because, There have been concerns from many former cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar over late finishes in IPL matches.
The IPL 2020 auction will take place in Kolkata on December 19. This will be the mini-auction.
