As the India tour of Australia for white ball cricket and Test series to be happen from 27th November 2020. India will be back to the international cricket after a long bread amid outbreak of COVID-19 but still they are facing issues with the player’s fitness issues. Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma are currently at Bangalore for rehabilitation at NCA. With left of just a few days, India is facing consequences in their squad formation as players aren’t fit to the upmost level for the series. As Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma doesn’t seem to join the team due to the injuries they had faced during the Indian Premier League 2020. This become a major concern for the national side. It seems that they both will end in getting out of the squad.
They both are undergoing rehabilitation in Bangalore at National Cricket Academy. The team management is not updated about the progress of these two star players of Indian Team. According to the reports and the sources, it is beloved that Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma will end up in missing the Australian Tour. Sources also reckoned that Indian Team Head Coach Ravi Shastri didn’t said anything about the availability of Ishant and Rohit for the series.
“He (Rohit) was never going to play the white ball series, they were just looking to see how long he needed the rest because you can’t afford to be resting for too long. If you need to play in the Test series or any red ball cricket, you have to got to be on the flight in the next three to four days. If you aren’t, then it’s hoping to be more tough,” quoted by Ravi Shastri, Head coach of Indian Cricket Team.
“It’s similar case Ishant’s injury as Rohit. You don’t really know how quickly he will be available to fly out. As I said, if anyone has to play in the Test series, he has to be on the flight in the next three to four days or max to max five days. Otherwise, it’s very difficult,” Quoted by Ravi Shastri to ABC Sports.
As per the current situation it is likely to predict out Rohit’s absence for the coming series so it is mandatory to find out the cover and for this management had decided to call Shreyas Iyer as the replacement of the hit-man. Shreyas Iyer has played T20 and ODIs for national side but he is yet to make his debut in the red ball cricket. It is believed that if Rohit doesn’t get fits then Iyer will cover him. Rohit’ absence will be major concern and big blow for the test side as he has amazing test record with 556 runs while opening for team consisting of two centuries and one double century respectively.
While for the back up of Ishant, management is still searching a player who could be his perfect replacement. The seamer was also ruled out earlier in the IPL 2020 due to the rib cage injury.
Whereas on the other hand, Rohit Sharma was struggling with the hamstring injury in the mid season but was get into the business at the end of the tournament.
If they both misses out then it will a positive and effective point for Australian side and it will definitely put more and immense pressure over the Indian Cricket Team to defend Australian Team on their home soil.
