On Monday, New Zealand thrashed team India to hand them a humiliating whitewash in the three match ODI series. New Zealand elected to bowl first after winning the toss. New Zealand had a good start with the bowl as they nipped out India’s top three with just 62 runs on the board.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer again found themselves in hot waters and the duo again looked to build a partnership. KL Rahul took the anchor’s role throughout the innings stitching a 100-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer (62) and a 107-run partnership with Manish Pandey (42).

After the wicket of Iyer, the Karnataka duo of Rahul and Pandey made sure that India did not lose a wicket until 46 overs while also keeping the scoring rate in check. KL Rahul cracked his 5th One Day international hundred. However, India could not finish on high and just managed to post 297 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

But as the ODI series has panned out till now, New Zealand scaled down the target with 17 balls to spare. Henry Nicholls, Colin de Grandhomme and Martin Guptil hit half centuries to guide New Zealand over the line and complete a 3-0 whitewash over India. India’s only positive in the third game was the century by KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper-batsman slammed 112 off 113 balls from No. 5.

After the match, New Zeland all-rounder Jimmy Neesham posted a picture of himself with KL Rahul on Twitter. Neesham captioned the photo: ‘Paper, Scissors, rock?’. In the photo the duo can be seen having a little banter between themselves.

A fan on social media also enquired the same of Neesham. He enquired if he was sledging or if it was other way round. The New Zealander was quick to reply as he tweeted back, “Just a banter. Nobody crossed a line.”

Mind you, Jimmy Neesham is also a part of Kings XI team in this year’s IPL and KL Rahul will be captaining him in IPL 2020.

However, it did not end here. Given KL’s current form in the series, Jimmy also went onto advice his captain to save some runs in a funny tweet.
