Even in the time of COVID-19 crisis, the debate over MSD’s future does not seem to be stopping any time soon. The speculations about MS Dhoni’s future has been taking an eternity to die down. Former Indian Captain, MS Dhoni, has been the hot topic of debate ever since the 2019 World Cup.

The media persons keep asking the same question time and time again to BCCI Office-bearers and former stalwarts, every time they make public appearance. Irony is that, every time the question remains same but the answer changes- keeping the world on his toes, like Dhoni did to the oppositions throughout his cricketing career.

The champion player has not played any kind of Cricket since the loss against New Zealand in the semi-final of the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2019. After the loss, Indian stalwart MS Dhoni took indefinite sabbatical from the game.

MS Dhoni has been planning to stage a comeback in the international team through IPL 2020. But now with the chances of IPL 2020 looking very slim, former Indian Opener K Srikkanth voiced his opinion on the impact of a cancelled IPL 2020 on the future of MS Dhoni. While heaping the praises on Dhoni, K Srikkanth stressed the point that in any case the team remains a priority over any individual.

“So, I wouldn’t mind taking him along with the squad, but definitely, if the IPL doesn’t happen, then Dhoni will have a difficult time getting back into the team for the T20 World Cup. Let’s be very honest about it. He is absolutely fit, he is a legend, he is brilliant. I am a great fan of Dhoni myself. But the question is for the World Cup team. So you’ll have to put the Indian team first and then the individuals,” said K Srikkanth as quoted by Hindustan Times.

With the Indian Government all set to increase the lockdown till 30th April, the future of IPL 2020 is hanging by a thread.
