Kings XI Punjab’s co-owner Ness Wadia arrested in Japan

Kings XI Punjab has in massive trouble after their co-owner Ness Wadia sentenced for drug possession while on a skiing holiday in Japan. After this issue, some top of the BCCI official wants to take action against the Kings XI Punjab and wants to suspend the Punjab franchise. As per sources, they are giving the example of MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings, and the official said that the rules should not be different.

After this issue, the official told Times Now,

“If they (CSK) can be suspended for 2 years for betting related offenses, this is much more serious and why change the precedent now, this has to be sent to the code of ethics committee and definite action needs to be taken against the franchise and the CO-owner. There are no two rules for different franchises. The least is to ban ness Wadia from all cricketing activities for life.”

Wadia has arrested in Japan and after that Reacting to the news, a Wadia Group spokesperson said, “The judgment is clear. It is a suspended sentence. Hence, it will not impact Ness Wadia in the discharge of any of his responsibilities, and he will continue to play the role that he has done hitherto, both within the Group and outside,”

In 2015, The Supreme Court-appointed Lodha panel had banned Chennai super kings and Rajasthan Royals for two years from IPL after their owners were found guilty of batting. Both teams came back in IPL in 2018. CSK and RR both reached in the playoffs of IPL 2018, and Chennai clinched the IPL 2018 title. This title is the Third IPL title for Chennai Super Kings.

In IPL 2019, Punjab’s qualification for reaching in the IPL 2019 playoffs has become default because they have lost their last 4 matches out of 5 matches. They are standing at the 7th position in the points table with 10 points. The only mathematical chance remains for KXIP to qualify for playoffs, for that they need to win all their remaining matches and also hope that the other matches result has gone in their favor. Punjab’s next game against KKR on May 3.
