Kings XI Punjab has started of IPL 2019 in a winning note and once it was looking that they have comfortably qualified for the IPL 2019 playoffs. But at the later half of the tournament KXIP started to lose the match and They have lost their last 4 matches out 5 matches. Punjab has played 12 matches so far in IPL-12 and wins only 5 matches out of them. They are at 7th position in the points table with 10 points. If Kings XI Punjab wants to qualify for the playoffs they need to win their remaining matches and also think that the other matches result has gone in their favor.
But at the business end of the tournament, Kings XI Punjab lost their spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Varun ruled out from the rest of the IPL 2019 due to injury.
Varun was injured when KXIP visited Chennai in last month which sidelined him for a few weeks. Then KXIP released a media statement and said “While the team was hopeful that Chakravarthy would return for the final few games of the campaign, his recovery, however, has not been sufficient. The 27-year-old will return home as a result. KXIP wishes him a speedy recovery and the very best for the rest of the year,”
But now he will miss the rest of the IPL 2019. Kings XI Punjab bought him in 8.4 crores In the IPL-12 auction. After buying him, KXIP coach Mike Hesson said “We had to wait and see how the bid was going (for Chakravarthy). He can bowl in the Powerplay and in the death and can also bat,”
Varun has risen during the Tamil Nadu premier league(TNPL), he has played for Madurai Panthers in TNPL and helps to win maiden TNPL title to his team. In IPL 2019 he has played only one matches and picks only one wicket against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kings XI Punjab has played their next game against KKR on May 3.
