ICC cricket world cup 2019 is ready to kick off from May 30. In this world cup, 10 teams will participate, and all the teams will play against each other. Now some cricket fraternity starts to pick their 4 semi-finalist teams for world cup 2019. Earlier Sourav Ganguly picked his semi-finalist teams for the world cup 2019. They are India, Australia, England, and Pakistan.
Now, former Indian cricketer, Krishnamachari Srikkanth picks his for semifinalist teams for world cup 2019. K Srikanth also part of India’s world cup winning team in 1983.
Srikkanth picked India, England, Australia, and the West Indies as the four semifinalists for the CWC. He signed off by saying, “The West Indies could be the surprise packet.”
He also speaks about India’s chances to win the world cup. According to sportstar.thehindu.com, Krishnamachari Srikkanth said on May 2, “India is in with a definite chance. Consistency will be the key in a grueling format such as this. There are no weak links. At the same time, you can come back in this format even if you do not have a great start in the competition. When you have Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli as the first three batsmen, you can feel very confident.”
When asked about who will play at No.4 for India in the world cup, he said, “In England, if there is a cloud cover during a game, then the thinking and the batting order could be different. If there is sunshine, you have a different game plan. The difficult part is that the conditions change quickly. Dhoni has been in brilliant form in the IPL, and that augurs well for the Indian team going into the World Cup.”
He also added some lines for the Indian bowling attack. He continued, “In Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar, Shami, and Hardik Pandya, India has a very good bunch of pacemen and teams will be wary of the Indian attack. If conditions favor seam bowling, then someone like Vijay Shankar might figure in India’s plans as a support seamer who could strengthen the batting. India has a potent spin attack too and is well balanced.”
