After a long gap of 436 days, which saw him playing various roles from Honorary Lieutenant Colonel to actor to producer and even retire from International Cricket, MS Dhoni is all set to captain Chennai Super Kings in 13th edition of Indian Premier League.
However, even before the ‘Thala’ could take the field, a certain controversy has abuzz the Cricket World. A couple of days back, Chinese Mobile Brand ‘oppo’ posted a tweet with a video in which MS Dhoni is endorsing their product in Indian Market. The Video instantly made headlines as fans didn’t like MS endorsing a Chinese brand amid Indo-China Border Tension and #BoycottChina hysteria.
MS Dhoni is well known for his patriotism and ‘Nation First’ attitude, but this brand endorsement might malign his image. A number of fans posted their reservations against MS endorsing ‘oppo’ mobiles and some of them even called him a traitor for the same.
While there is no surprise ‘oppo’ picked MS Dhoni for endorsement as he has been the poster boy of ‘IPL’ for more than a decade and has immense market value. He along with Virat Kohli has been on the top of the chart in terms of brand endorsement among the Indian cricketers.

After the bloodshed, there has been a rising demand to boycott China and Chinese Products in India. From cancelling various tenders of China based companies to boycotting the Chinese products locally, India is all set to learn China a lesson this time.
MS Dhoni has not reacted to the situation so far. He will be leading Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians today at Abu Dhabi in the season opener. While both teams will look to start their journey with a win, it will be fans – who will be enjoy the live action after long time.
