After the Ongoing West Indies series, India will play against South Africa at home. In this series, India and South Africa will play three t20Is and three tests against each other. The series will start from September 15 with the T20I series. BCCI will pick the squad for this series in the first week of September. BCCI may go with the same team they picked for West Indies series. MS Dhoni hasn’t parted of Windies series.
Rishabh Pant is the wicket-keeper batsman for the West Indies series, and he may continue for South Africa series as fist wicket-keeper choice. According to reports, BCCI stays with Rishabh Pant and will not Select MS Dhoni for South Africa series. Because before the T20I world cup 2020, India will play 22 T20I international matches and they want to give enough chance to Rishabh pant.
“There are only 22 T20 Internationals before India play their first World T20 game and selectors are clear in their vision that it’s time to move forward. They are planning on getting a pool of three keepers ready for limited-overs, especially T20Is,” a source close to the BCCI was quoted as saying.
MS Dhoni is not part of Team India’s T20 world cup planning, and BCCI wants Rishabh pant as the Wicket Keeper batsman for the T20I World Cup 2020. So maybe MS Dhoni will not be picked for South Africa series.
“Retirement is an individual decision and selectors, or for that matter, no one has any right to decide on that front. But they have every right to decide the roadmap for the 2020 World T20, and that’s to give Rishabh Pant maximum chances,” the official explained.
“I have very clearly told post the selection of the Indian team against West Indies, that we have a plan post World Cup to give as many opportunities as possible to Rishabh and groom him so that he can grow in confidence and perform as per the requirements of the team,” Prasad had said.
