On this day in world of cricket

29th march 2004 – It was Virender Sehwag day.

On this day exactly 14 years ago in the first Test, of the series in Multan, Virender Sehwag hit 309 against Pakistan and became the first Indian player to score a 300 in test cricket. He earned the nickname, Sultan of Multan, after his record-breaking knock.

No Indian player has achieved this feat till that time. VVS Laxman held the record for the highest score by an Indian in Test cricket when he scored 281 against Australia in 2001 at the Eden Gardens.

Exactly 4 years later on 29th march 2008 Sehwag once again scored a triple century but this time against SA. He scored 319 runs vs SA in Chennai. Sehwag was the only player to score triple century for India in test cricket until Karun Nair scored 303* against England. Until now only Virender Sehwag and Karun Nair have scored triple century for India in test cricket.

29th march 2015 – It was Australia’s day.
