Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings, has given an update on Ambati Rayudu’s injury. As per the report in ANI, Ambati Rayudu is nursing a hamstring injury, which he was supposed to incur during his 71-run innings in season opener, and, at worst, will miss one more game before returning to the field.
“Nothing to worry about. He has the hamstring injury, but will at worst miss one more game. But you never know, he might be fit in time for that game,” Viswanathan told ANI.
Rayudu has also missed CSK’s the last game against Rajasthan Royals. His replacement – Rituraj Gaikwad- could not do much with the bat as begged a golden duck on debut. CSK also went on to lose the match against RR.
However, in the first match of #Dream11 IPL2020, Ambati Rayudu played a marvellous innings of 71 runs off just 48 deliveries against Mumbai Indians. The 34-year walked in to bat when Chennai Super Kings were reeling at 6-2 in pursuit of 163.
Rayudu joined hands with Faf Du Plessis as the duo counterattacked Mumbai Indians’ bowler to put a match winning a stand of 115-runs. Ambati Rayudu, in particular, was ruthless against MI bowlers as he played fast bowlers as well as spin bowlers with equal ease.
Last year, the 34-year was excluded from India’s World Cup 2019 squad even after excellent performances just before the World Cup. Ambati Rayudu was supposed to be India’s No.4 in the tournament and coincidently, it was India’s middle order that failed miserably in the tournament. The 34-year old also took retirement out of despair after the World Cup snub, but after deep thought came out of retirement after some time.
In their next match, CSK will be up against Delhi Capitals at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Friday. Like CSK, Delhi Capitals has also started their journey on a winning note and it will be a battle of Youth Brigade vs Daddy’s Army on Friday.
