In the 31st match IPL 2019, Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 wickets with 6 balls remaining. With this defeat RCB can said to be out of IPL but there is still a way by which they can qualify for play-offs. If RCB wins remaining all matches there are chances that RCB can qualify for play-offs.
RCB has lost 7 matches of 8 matches they have played so far in IPL 2019. If RCB wants to qualify in playoffs they need to win their remaining all 6 matches. And this is something that their leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is also hoping.
Yuzvendra Chahal hoping that RCB will qualify in play offs.
Yuzvendra Chahal while speaking to media in post match press conference yesterday, said that “Still we have seven games left, if we win the six consecutive games we will qualify for the playoffs, last year a team (referring to RR) qualified with 14 points, still we are in the game, you never know what will happen next.”
Only four times in the 11-year history of IPL this has happened that teams have qualified for playoffs after achieving 14 points in league stages. Rajasthan Royals were the last team to do so, when they made to playoffs of IPL 2018 after winning seven matches in the group stages. They were lucky that other matches results also went in their favor. The team that RR wanted to lose, lost that match and their ranking in points table degraded resulting in improvement of RR ranking.
RCB have 2 points from 8 matches in IPL 2019 and will achieve 14 points only if they win their all remaining 6 matches from here on. If RCB wants to qualify in playoffs not only they need to win remaining all 6 matches they also need to hope that the results of other matches comes as per their requirement.
