Rohit Sharma reacts to the statement given by Aakash Chopra regarding the question on the IPL

Rohit sharma and his love towards the IPL Trophy is better than any love story. Rohit and his camp lifted the trophy with all flaws. He is lifting the trophy for the 6th time (5 times as a captain and 1 time as a player of Deccan Chargers in 2009). A statement was on Rohit that he only lift the trophy in the odd years like 2013,2015,2017,2019 but in this season he clinched the trophy by defending it and abolishing the statement of picking the trophy only in that odd years. He is now considered as the most successful captain of IPL.

With his crucial captaincy many debates ran around this times that who should captain the Indian National Team in the shorter format? Is it Rohit or Virat? Now this question had become one of the controversial questions among all. Well this question arises due to the successful journey of Rohit as a captain of Mumbai Indians. He took the captaincy of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and in this 7 years of journey he had clinched the title 5 times, the most by any captain.

On the other side if we are talking about the present Indian skipper and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli, he had led the team for last 8 years and unfortunately the team had no cup in their home name.

What are the question asked to Rohit Sharma on the IPL?

A debate is roaming around the captaincy slot. To whom the captaincy should be forwarded? Is it remains with Kohli? Or Kohli should give captaincy to Rohit?

Former Indian batsman and Cricket analyst commentator Aakash Chopra was the one who put this question forward. For the question asked by Chopra, Rohit replied to the statement and he doesn’t happy with the gossip. The question was if he led RCB, would RCB won trophy?

Rohit Sharma replied that there wasn’t any discussion over leading any other team in IPL.He also added that he and his franchise take the decision together.

“Lot of people, I hear say that can he (Rohit) do it with other teams? Firstly, why shall I need to do it with other teams? There is a certain way this franchise wants to go and same direction I want to go as well, both as a player and leader”. Quoted by Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma also added that between MI and other franchises, there is basic difference that is other teams put efforts to creat fresh side whereas MI camp also focuses on the epitome core to build the team for a long time.

They always focus on the coordinations and performance like Kieron Pollard who is playing for Mumbai since 2010 and it is the fact that Mumbai Indians usually brings two to three players when team need otherwise they keep the same team.

Rohit sharma statement towards on What’s next for them?

“Did this team become good overnight? No. It is just that this franchise doesn’t believe in chopping and changing. And every player, including Rohit Sharma, was available (2011) at auctions. Just that MI picked and believed in building a team” quoted by Rohit Sharma.

Can Indians see Rohit as captain in shorter format?

Well The answer seems to be no because Virat himself is a brand value for Indians as he bring huge profits for the BCCI so it doesn’t seem that the management would think for swap of captaincy slot and Kohli himself carries more records compared to anyone else. The change of captaincy would definitely lead to mass protests over fans. So unless a miracle happens to see Rohit as a captain for the National side and the debate over captaincy will be not perishable in the coming days.
