In last couple of years, Andre Russell has begged himself the tag of best fast bowling all-rounder in the franchise cricket. After serving a ban of 1 year in 2017, the Caribbean all-rounder made a grand entry in the franchise cricket with two back to back impressive seasons in IPL.
The IPL 2019 might have been won by Mumbai Indians, but it was Andre Russell, who hogged the limelight through his breath-taking hitting. Representing his franchise KKR, the swashbuckling all-rounder amassed 510 runs and 11 wickets to walk away with the Most Valuable Player award.
But in the ongoing #Dream11 IPL 2020, Andre Russell hasn’t lived up to expectations. Despite being sent in to bat higher up the order a couple of times, Russell has failed to play any big knock. In four innings so far, his scores read – 11, 24, 13 and 2. After Russell failed to make impact against Chennai Super Kings in batting, a fan put up a bizarre demand on Jassym Lora’s latest Instagram post.
The fan commented: “Jassym aunty please go to Dubai Russell is not in good form.”
Jassym Lora is wife of Andre Russell and She has been often seen supporting him in IPL. But this time she couldn’t join Russell in UAE due to prevailing Covid-19 situation. BCCI has issued strict SOPs for the tournament and any family, joining players, have to clear tests and then stay quarantined for 7 days before entering in bio-bubble.
However, she noticed the comment and decided to reply the fan. She wrote: “He’s in the best form..”
Andre, himself, also confident about his form. “I’m still confident (about finding form with the bat) and these things happen in cricket and I’m still working to find my way,” said the Jamaican after he managed just 2 runs against CSK.
Though Russell contribution with bat hasn’t been great, he has been impressive with the ball in hand. Russell has put up some commendable bowling performances in death overs that have allowed KKR to use Pat Cummins upfront.
