Ruturaj Gaikwad supported by Chief Selector ahead of South Africa ODIs

Stunning Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has procured an ODI call-facing South Africa. Gaikwad addresses CSK in the Indian Premier League and Maharashtra in homegrown cricket.

The 24-year-old Indian batsman made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka last year. He scored 21 runs in 18 balls in the second T20 and 14 runs in 10 balls in the third T20.

Gaikwad has been in an astonishing form in Indian homegrown cricket 2021 and has now been compensated for his diligent effort and acquired a spot in India’s 18-part group for the ODI series.

He was the top scorer in the 2021 IPL, later he amassed a surprising total of 635 runs and assumed a critical part in CSK winning the title. 

The opener proceeded with his astounding run of structure in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, as well. He was again the top scorer there, scoring 603 runs.

On Friday, BCCI chief selector  Chetan Sharma drove the selection board. This board chose the 18-man group for the forthcoming ODI against the Proteas. The Indian group will play 3 ODIs planned on January 19, 21 and 23 against South Africa.

Chetan Sharma didn’t stay away and stored acclaims upon Ruturaj Gaikwad. Also, Sharma has backed Ruturaj to “do wonders ” for the Indian cricket team. He additionally talked with regards to offering youths chances at the perfect opportunity.

Look, absolutely (he has) got the opportunity at the right time. He was in the T20 team and also now he is in the ODI team, wherever his place can be made, selectors are thinking he will go and do wonders for the country,” quoted by Sharma.

“We have selected him (Ruturaj). Now it is up to the (team) management to see when he can play in the XI, when he is required, and how to go about the combination. These things we will coordinate.

“But, at present, he was in the T20 side also against New Zealand and he is in ODI now. He is doing well, and he is rewarded for that,” added by him.
