“She(Sarah Taylor) is the best wicketkeeper in the world at the moment – male or female,” Gilchrist said.
Ellyse Perry took three wickets and won the player of the match. After winning the player of the match, she said,
“It was a typical Ashes start and it’s nice to get a win under the belt. We bowled incredibly well, Megan at the other end bowled well. Spinners also chipped in for us. In a big series, it was good to make a statement early on. In the past, we’ve done good work bowling first. It’s funny that both batting sides struggled. It was a good toss to win and we started well. She’s (Healy) just striking the ball cleanly and has done so in the past 12-18 months. She played wonderful shots. It will be nice to have a crack on Thursday again. I am a bit surprised to hold this (trophy. She thought Healy would be holding it), we are looking forward to the next game.”
Australia won the first two ODI of the three-match ODI series and took the lead by 2-0. The third ODI of the series will be played tomorrow. Australia can try to clean-sweep the series while England can try to finish the ODI series with a win. after that, England women and Australia women will play a test match.
