Shane Watson announced retirement from BBL

Shane Watson is currently playing for CSK in IPL 2019. In last match against SRH, he played an outstanding inning of 96 runs in just 53 balls and was awarded Man of the match. His inning was crucial factor for CSK win in that match.

Shane Watson has announced his retirement from Big Bash League. Shane Watson signed with BBL franchise – Sydney Thunder in 2015. He was appointed captain of team. He has played 42 matches for his team and scored 1058 runs with his highest being 100. In bowling, he has taken 20 wickets with best figures of 3 for 13.

Watson had earlier announced his retirement from all form of international cricket. He announced his retirement from test and ODIs in 2015 and from T20 in 2016. In tests he played 109 innings in 59 matches and scored 3731 runs with his highest being 176. In ODIs he played 190 matches and scored 5757 runs with an average of 40.54 and strike rate of 90.45.

Sydney Thunder’s captain Shane Watson has announced his retirement from Australia’s Big Bash League to spend more time with his family.

Watson said

“I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who has been involved with the Sydney Thunder over the last four seasons. I have so many amazing memories that I will savour forever with the one standout being our win in 2016. I want to especially thank Nick Cummins, Paddy Upton, Lee Germon and Shane Bond who made my experience with the club so enjoyable. I will most definitely miss support that the club gets from the Thunder Nation. Their unwavering support through the ups and downs inspires everyone and I will cherish that support deeply. Finally, to my teammates, I have played with so many great people and cricketers at the club and I sincerely wish everyone the absolute best for the upcoming seasons.”
