Along with Dhoni, Suresh Raina has played an important role in CSK’s team. CSK’s fan called him china Thala. He is the deputy of MS Dhoni. In the absence of MS, he leads the team. In IPL 2019, Suresh Raina has led the team twice because MS Dhoni could not play both matches due to injury. In the last game against Delhi, Raina played a match-winning knock.
When Asked how challenging it was to lead CSK in Dhoni’s absence, Raina replied: “I think losing him (Dhoni) as a captain is not an issue, losing him as a batsman is always difficult for us. That’s what happened for us against Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. When he comes to the crease a lot of pressure is created for other teams. When he is not in the team, we see the difference.”
Rains also hint for CSK’s leadership when MS decides to quit, Suresh Raina Said, “He has done well in the last couple of years as a batsman as well team mentor. So probably you may see me more next year when he is done, but I need more of his caliber. But he will continue as long as he wants to play for Chennai, you know him and Chennai.”
Suresh Raina also applaud MSD’s glovework, he said,
“He (Dhoni) had two brilliant stumpings. One is Shreyas (Iyer), and the other is (Chris) Morris. It shows how compact he is. In the last couple of years when he was playing for India also, he has done amazing stumpings that shows how involved he is in the game.”
CSK will play their last League game of IPL 2019 against Kings XI Punjab on May 5. They are at first position in the points table with 18 points. If they remain table topper, then they have played the qualifier one in their home ground. It’s good for CSK because they know very well the conditions of Chennai’ ground.
