It is almost confirmed that there would be an inclusion of team in the Indian Premier League format which will definitely extend the season. The upcoming edition of IPL 2021 is likely to held in March and BCCI is all set to release the approval of the inclusion of two new teams by making a competition of ten teams in the league tournament.

According to the reports given by Cricbuzz, BCCI is going to set a meeting for the next edition of IPL which will be discussed in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which would be held on 24th December 2020. A notice regarding the meeting has been initiated by BCCI which has been signed by the secretary Jay Shah. It is not the first time there will be 10 teams. It has also happened in the year 2011 where ten teams played in the league whereas for the two seasons league was promoted with competition of nine teams and it is predicted out that ten teams will compete for the title in the IPL 2021.

The reports suggests that one team will be added in the next edition and the other one will be added in the 2022 season. But if this happens then it would create a major issue in the auction facing stiff consequences from other franchises so it would be good to add both the teams in the same season to avoid two mega auctions at regular instances.
