Virender Sehwag, former captain and player of KXIP, has taken KXIP to the task after KXIP succumbed to their 4th loss of the season to finish at bottom of the table. In a night, when CSK openers does wonders by pulling off first successful chase of the tournament in Dubai International Stadium, KXIP bowler put up a pathetic performance.

It was CSK’s 2nd win and KXIP’s 4th loss in five matches each. This was also KXIP’s third consecutive loss also. Though three consecutive losses weren’t the much worrying thing for KXIP, it is the manner in which they lost, concerns everyone. Their middle order hasn’t contributed much in five matches and their bowling, except their performance against RCB, has looked toothless.

Speaking in a video on his Facebook page, Virender Sehwag said: “CSK won the match by 10 wickets and consigned Kings XI Punjab to the last position in the points table, which is actually their place. This is the first time this year that the side batting first in Dubai lost. This is a feat only Punjab can pull off.”

Batting first KXIP also posted a sizeable total – 178/4- on Dubai’s traditionally big ground. While KXIP captain-KL Rahul anchored the innings all of Mayank, Mandeep, Pooran, Maxwell and Sarfaraz played good cameos to post the total.

CSK, who was also coming after three consecutive losses, took full toll of their poor bowling and fragile middle order to register a perfect chase. Both Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis, CSK openers, showed great intent and ruthlessness to bury the hatchet from previous matches. Such was the audacity in the chase that Faf and Watson matched each other shot by shot to hit eighties in one sided chase. The duo shared an unbeaten stand of 181 runs as Chennai Super Kings completed a perfect chase (with 10 wickets in hand) to grab two important points.

“Yet 179 is not a low score, but the thing is that the Kings XI Punjab bowling is sometimes its own worst enemy and the opposition batting’s best friend. Yesterday was Chris Jordan’s birthday and he gave the return gifts in advance while getting only birthday bumps from CSK,” he added.
