Ashish Nehra, The Former Indian Seamer shown his disappointment on the story of Rohit Sharma’s injury been handled. He also points on the low clarity towards the information base between the skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. It is in the point of discussion that selectors didn’t conveyed the updates of Rohit’s fitness to Virat Kohli.
Before the commencement of comeback match of Indian Cricket Team towards the international game after a long gap , Virat Kohli stated during a virtual press conference that there was lack of transparency in getting the information base on Rohit’s injury and he is unaware of the fact what is being called on his presence. He even said that there wasn’t much of information of extent on injury of Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli also don’t the reason behind travelling towards India rather than to Australia after the conclusion of IPL2020 which took place in UAE. He even quoted that he only received the mail of the selected players for the Australian Tour.
This type of approach from the management and the selectors seems to be pretty much dull that doesn’t fulfil the extent to Kohli as being the skipper of the National side. He deserves to know the whole updates of each and every player of his team.
“Before the selection meeting, we got a mail that he is unavailable, that he has picked up an injury during the IPL. It said that the pros and cons of the injury were explained to him and he understood and he was unavailable. After that ( the selection meeting) he played in the IPL and we all thought he would be on the flight to Australia and we had no information on why he is not travelling with us. There has been no information, there has been a lack of clarity. We have been playing the waiting game.” Said by Virat Kohli.

Ashish Nehra quoted that the skipper should have called once to know the whole story behind this or Rohit should have conveyed the scenario to his skipper. The gap created with them was certainly very awful to listen. In the world of high classed technological base, still there was a space in communicating with each other.
“This is truly very sad. Both of them should have talked it out. Virat is the captain, hence, he could have picked up the phone and enquired him. Similarly, Rohit could have spoken to Virat. This is very disappointing and if there will be lack of communication in 2020 then how will things work?” Said by Ashish Nehra.
During the mid season of IPL2020, Rohit Sharma sustained hamstring injury against Kings Ci Punjab in the league stage due to which he was left out in few games. His comeback was uncertain but after a few matches later, he again joined the team which was little unexpected call like to recover and give much priority to the international side rather than franchises. He played playoff and final and took Mumbai Indians to achieve their 5th IPL Title.
Due to the sustained injury he wasn’t selected for the Australian Tour and was travelled to India for National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation and fitness procedure. In the recent reports BCCI had updated that it was Rohit’s call to travel to India rather than Australia due to his ailing father who was suffering from COVID. After his father being healthy, he travelled to Bangalore in the NCA for better fitness for the red ball cricket.
He was only included in the Test squad after Virat Kohli’s decision for taking a paternity leave from the last three Test matches.
