Twitter slams Manjrekar brutally as he makes another controversy

Controversies and trolls seem to be following Sanjay Manjrekar from 2019. Manjrekar, former Indian Cricketer and Cricket analyst, has created yet another controversy by calling Piyush Chawla & Ambati Rayudu low profile cricketers in an appreciation tweet.

After Chennai Super Kings’ win against Mumbai Indians in the season opener, Sanjay Manjrekar posted a tweet reading: “So happy for two pretty low profile cricketers Piyush Chawla and Ambati Rayudu. Chawla was sensational with the ball. Bowled the 5th & 16th over too. Rayudu..well…one of the best IPL innings from him based on quality of shots played! Well done CSK! #IPL2020.”

Though Manjrekar posted the tweets in appreciation, he ended up calling Piyush Chawla and Ambati Rayudu, two Indian internationals, low-profile cricketers. While Piyush Chawla was a part of two World Cup winning Indian teams, Ambati Rayudu was one of the contenders for 2019 World Cup team. Clearly, fans didn’t like Manjrekar’s words for their hero’s and started bashing him on his tweet.

FYI, both Ambati Rayudu and Piyush Chawla played an important role in CSK’s victory over Chennai Super Kings. While Chawla bowled an all-important spell of 4 overs – conceding only 21 runs and taking Rohit Sharma’s wicket, Ambati Rayudu was phenomenal with the bat.

When Chennai Super Kings was under pressure after losing two wickets in first two overs, Ambati Rayudu along with Faf du Plessis counterattacked Mumbai Indians to almost kill the game. Ambati Rayudu made a belligerent 71 off just 48 balls as CSK chased down the down the target with 4-balls to spare.

Harbhajan Singh, who opt out of IPL 2020, appreciated his team’s effort and congratulated them for the win. “The partnership between Rayudu and Du Plessis was the game-changing moment for Chennai Super Kings. We have made a bright start and we need to keep moving forward like this.

“I remember that when we had won the IPL two years back, we had defeated Mumbai Indians in the first game. So, it is a good omen for us and I hope we will finish well again,” Harbhajan said in an interview with Sports Tak.

He also felt bad for Rayudu, when the latter was not picked in World Cup 2019 squad despite good performances. He said, “It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel there was an injustice done to him when the World Cup team was picked. He should have been definitely there on that team. But he has shown again in this match, how much ability he has and that age is on one side and talent is also something that needs to be looked at.”
