Good news has been hit in the Mumbai Indians campaign as Former India bowler Vinay Kumar has been named talent scout for the Mumbai Indians, the reigning IPL winners.
Kumar will be joined in the post by former India wicket keeper Parthiv Patel. Kumar announced his retirement in February this year after playing one Test match, 31 One-Day Internationals, and nine Twenty20 Internationals. Having immense experience in the domestic tournament, Vinay Kumar can be a great asset for the defending champions.
Vinay Kumar led Karnataka to two Ranji Trophy titles in his 17-year first-class career, as well as being a member of Mumbai’s winning campaigns in 2015 and 2017. Even he has been a core vital player for the national team as well in his times. With having some time with Mumbai Indians, he can enumerate more tactical approaches to the Mumbai army.
According to a statement from the five-time IPL champions, Kumar will work closely with the Mumbai management and coaching staff.
“The Mumbai Indians were founded on the principles of recognising talent and fostering youth. I am convinced that Vinay would add value to our philosophies and scouting capabilities “Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani stated.
Mumbai Indians has been the most successful franchise in the history of IPL and having lots of experienced players in the dug-out makes them even stronger. It is also expected that the second phase of IPL will start with Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings, that means the EL-Classico of IPL.
